Art House is all about community. You don't have to be a professional artist to participate in the exhibition. This project is about being creative and inspiring yourself and others. We want to bring artists together and give everyone a chance to show in galleries and other venues around the country!

Submit words

In the first Art House Encyclopedia project, we're asking you, the community, to submit words that will be assigned to other artists to visually interpret. In a sense, you are coming up with what should go in the dictionary, and someone else will be creating their own visual definition for it.

There is no submission fee for submitting words. It is absolutely free.

Visually create definitions on five 3x3in canvases

After you sign up, we'll send you a package of five 3x3 inch canvases along with a list of 5 randomly selected, community generated words - one word for each canvas. Your mission is to visually create a definition for each word on its respected canvas.

When you've completed the canvases, simply send them back to us in the mail. We will be holding an exhibition for them at the Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport's Atrium Gallery in Atlanta, Ga as well as creating a book entitled "The Art House Encyclopedia VOL. 1". And at least one of your canvases is guaranteed to be included in both the exhibition and the book.

If you want your canvases returned to you after the exhibition, simply include a self addressed stamp envelope and we will send them back.

Will I be able to get into the airport to see my work?
Yes, the exhibition is going to be held in the atrium of the gallery which is before security.

Will EVERY canvas I submit be in the show?
Unfortunately space restrictions won't allow every single canvas returned to be in the show. However, at least one canvas from each person will be in both the book and the exhibition.

I have never painted in my life. Should i still participate?
Of course! Art house believes that everyone can be an artist and we encourage everyone to participate!

What do you mean by "Submit words to the project"?
The project is all about collaboration. We're going to pair you up with 5 assorted words submitted by the community, and then you will visually represent those words. You will receive your fives words in the same package that you receive your canvas in.

Will everyone be in the book?
Yes! Every artist that sends back at least one completed canvas will have at least one credited image in the book.

Your agreement is confusing. Do I retain the rights to my work?
In short, yes. However, the agreement is in place to cover us for the printing of the book. We will not change anything other then a little cropping and color correction. We will also will not use your work for anything but this book and other promo materials. You created the artwork, so it should obviously stay your work.

What if I don't want to pre-order the book and I decide I want it later?
You will be able to purchase the book later but you will not be able to get the pre order price. In order to get it at the discounted price, you must order it at the time of signing up.

By submitting artwork to Art House, LLC, you grant Art House, LLC a perpetual, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, modify, publish, distribute, and otherwise exercise all copyright and publicity rights with respect to that information at its sole discretion, including storing it on http://www.arthousecoop.com servers and incorporating it in other works in any media now known or later developed without limitation.

If you do not wish to grant Art House, LLC these rights, it is suggested that you do not mail or submit information or artwork to Art House, LLC. Art House, LLC reserves the right to select, edit and arrange submissions, and to remove information from this Web site at any time at its sole discretion.
