Project overview

After you sign up to participate in the project, we'll mail you a package containing a Moleskine sketchbook with a barcode on it, a randomly picked theme to create your book around, and detailed instructions about the project.

Themes

To give visitors to the library variety and to aid in choosing what to look at, we are assigning each person a theme for their book. Themes are assigned at random upon signing up and are pulled out of a list of 30 different themes.

The Exhibitions and Permanent Collection

When we receive everyone's sketchbooks back, we will be taking the collection on a tour around the United States to select galleries and venues. Everyone who sends their book back to us will be included in the collection and taken on tour.

In addition to the touring exhibitions, the ultimate goal of the project is to create a permanent library for which the sketchbook collection can be on display. We are anticipating the opening of the permanent sketchbook library location in 2010.

Rules and Info

• The goal of the project is to create a permanent collection of sketchbooks. By participating and completing your sketchbook, you will be a founding contributor to the library. Please keep this in mind when it comes to documenting your book before sending it in to us, as it will be permanently stored in the collection.
• After signing up, you will be randomly assigned a theme for which to complete your sketchbook around. The theme will be chosen out of a list of approximately 30 themes.
• After signing up, a you will be sent a 5.25 x 8.25 in. Moleskine Cahier sketchbook. All of your work for the project must be completed in this sketchbook.
• The sketch book MUST be the same sized when closed (5.25 x 8.25 in). When opened, they can be as big or as small as you want, but they must fold back into the same original size.
• Sketchbooks will not be for sale.

Details

Entry fee is $18 for a United States shipping address and $21 if it is shipped over seas. The entry fee covers the sketchbook, shipping the sketchbook to you, inclusion into each exhibition on the tour, and a spot in the permanent sketchbook library collection.

Please note that we do not jury entries. We believe art should be accessible to the masses and we therefore included every entry submitted.

By submitting artwork to Art House, LLC, you are giving Art House, LLC the right to use images of your sketch book for any promotional materials and on our websites and any other print publications we put out. Newspapers and other media outlets (including online blogs) are allowed to use images of your sketchbook in promotional material promoting Art House.

Your work is your work and you retain the rights to it. We simply want to be able to show it off.
