Lorie McCown

Lorie McCown holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Art, from California State University, Long Beach, and attended San Diego State University’s Graduate Art program. She was formally trained in drawing, painting, and art history. She has made art all her life, mainly in the fields of drawing, painting, fabric, paper, yarn and fiber. I can not remember a time when I did not, or was not, interested in making art. My influences are broad. I love children’s illustration, ethnic and ancient art, the Impressionists and landscape art. Books and music play an enormous part in my creative process. I love ancient civilizations and history in general. I am interested in context as well as content when looking at and making art. 		Peg over 2 years Hey Lorie! Thank you for your kind words. My profile won't give me a way to change my town...I actually am in Colonial Beach VA and my step son and his wife are in Fredricksburg! Small world! The tree thing has followed my for a long time. I see the human form in them all the time. and I have a huge affection for things created from wood. I feel energy from it. It's like I want to hug trees sometimes....it feels like they know things. Hope that doesn't sound crazy, but it's a nature thing for me! I love the fall and winter because the leaves drop and I see the people trees. I always have my camera with me to capture inspiration.
