Roka Walsh

I live in Oregon with my sweetie, Steve, and our most unusual dog m'Lady. I have 2 daughters and 4 grandbabes. I recently rediscoverd my love for photography. Oregon is a photographers dream. Photographic moments await everywhere… urban delights, forests, ocean beaches, rivers, mountains and desert all within a one to two hours drive. Magnificent flora everywhere.

I’m drawn to macro photography – I suppose because of the secrets revealed when I look through the lens. Long ago in school I experimented with close-up photography and loved it, but film and darkroom work was too prohibitive so I moved away from it. Digital changed all of that and now I’m afraid I’ve become quite addicted to it. I take my camera with me wherever I go – on my neighborhood walks, the farmer’s market, friend’s homes. I have a disproportionate number of photos of flowers because I am so drawn to their beauty and tiny secrets – but am not limiting myself to just taking macro shots.

I am self-employed as a software trainer and project mentor and occasional freelance photographer. I've been using Photoshop professionally for 20 years and now that I'm behind the camera again I have become obsessed with editing and manipulating my own photos – although I only do major editing to a small fraction of them.

I look forward to connecting with the community here at Art House. It looks to be a wonderful and wecoming place. Community is extremely important to me - it's where we give and find the safety and support to open our hearts and create.
