Leeds, West Yorks, United Kingdom thedyershand.blogspot.com
At school I was persuaded into university instead of art school; I studied English at London University; then spent two years completing an M.Phil in Combined Historical Studies at the Warburg Institute, where Sir Ernst Gombrich was my tutor. After a career in teaching I am now retired and returning to my first love, the viual arts.  I am currently studying drawing and printmaking courses at Leeds College of Art and Design. I have exhibited textile pieces at Shipley Art Gallery Gateshead, Leeds City Art Gallery, Lotherton Hall Leeds, The Festival of Quilts and at Quiltfest in Llangollen North Wales as part of the Contemporary Quilt Group's Breakthrough exhibition, which is also being featured at Festival of Quilts in 2010.  I also participated in the Journal Quilt project in 2007. I hand-dye my own fabrics threads and fibres, and also rpint fabrics.  My current work is centred on my fascination with patterns in the natural world and begins with close observational drawing as a basis for more stylised images. I am a member of the Contemporary Quilt Group (UK), SAQA and the SDA.

Hi yes - I do intend to include prints.  I've chosen grids and lines as my theme - I am fascinated by the way these occur in nature, and though I have started in a slightly unfocussed way I intend to home in on this area; and yes, I do intend to include more prints.  Thankyou for your encouragement

Hi Sandra,   I really like your print work.  I also enjoy fabric art as well.  I wonder what your theme for the sketchbook project is and whether you are going to mix it with your print work?
