I've been doing artwork since the age of two. Bubble people and animals. They were great! I finally perfected the realism of figurative work as an adolescent. It's unfortunate I was into realism at a time when post modernism and minimalism was "in." So that led me to graphic design and technical illustration. My next career got me into urban design which was great fun! But now I'm retired and doing all the experimentation in art that I never got to do while in such restrictive careers. TIME FOR FUN!!!!
I spend much of my sketching time on musicians and desert botanicals. Kind of a strange combination but that's it. The musicians are sketched while they are performing. So it's quite a challenge to get details. I go with my mood so sometimes the sketches are quite loose and fluid, other times quite detailed and specific. The botanicals are fairly easy as they don't move. So I have an advantage there. I try to take different approaches with them and experiment.
