You asked for writing tips.  Here's my top 3

#1: Read everything...especially bad books, because they will inspire you to want to publish something better.  #2: Write every day. You can always edit it later.  And there is no such thing as wasted words -- the more you write, the better you get.  #3:  Put what readers need above what you need and you'll be more successful. But remember: sometimes readers need what you need; the trick is to find what you both are not getting yet from the publishing world.
