France www.miekevaningen.com
Mieke van Ingen (1962, Delft, the Netherlands) lives and works in the South of France as a painter and a printmaker with a special interest in the cross over between the two disciplines. Using motifs extracted from vegetable life, water and clouds, Van Ingen incorporate these forms in her drawings, paintings and graphics with a painterly fluidity. It seems that Van Ingen's work brings together both ends, modern and tradition, abstract and figurative, graphical and painterly. There is no restriction by borders and perspective and depht. And nevertheless, through the use of color and contrast, a fictitious space is created, which is enough to withdraw the viewer, away from the three dimensions of daily life.

I think we have a lot in common esthetically and I'm lookingforward to seeing your sketchbook in person when it comes to the Hyde Park Art Center this summer.

Yes! And there are so many ways to sigh.

There are so many patterns in nature, but isn't our life just one sigh? Thank you Dana.

Great combination of the regular and the irregular in your lines and grids! Nature, people, dreams, are all like that!

Dear Elly, it would be a pleasure meeting you one day. Your profile photo looked so familiar and now I know it is of the wonderfull website of Martha that I remember you. Enjoy making your drawings under the still shining sun of the South. As I finished the sketchbook project 2011, I have taken up again the work on a serie of large paintings. They do dry faster in France than in the Netherlands!

By the way, your meeting between Picasso and Ingres is fantastic. Keep me informed of future exhibitions (I'll do the same) and maybe we can meet.

Nice to be friends. Could also write in Dutch, because I am originally from the Netherlands. Also, have a look at http://www.art-en-france.nl/ellywright.html and you will see we are both on Martha's lovely website. Of course looked at your work there. Really beautiful stuff in the first gallery. We live in France 4-5 months a year and the rest in UK. At present still in SW France, enjoying a wonderful autumn. Good luck with the sketchbook. I'm enjoying yours very much.
