Mieke van Ingen (1962, Delft, the Netherlands) lives and works in the South of France as a painter and a printmaker with a special interest in the cross over between the two disciplines.
Using motifs extracted from vegetable life, water and clouds, Van Ingen incorporate these forms in her drawings, paintings and graphics with a painterly fluidity.
It seems that Van Ingen's work brings together both ends, modern and tradition, abstract and figurative, graphical and painterly. There is no restriction by borders and perspective and depht. And nevertheless, through the use of color and contrast, a fictitious space is created, which is enough to withdraw the viewer, away from the three dimensions of daily life.
