Beatriz Ledesma

A native from Buenos Aires, Argentina, Beatriz's work is intuitive & spiritual, it forces the viewer to engage in a dialogue beyond conceptual constraints. Her work is influenced by her spiritual practices, mystical beliefs, surrealist and symbolist artists, and the seminal ideas of psychoanalysis.  Her career as a painter began in the early 70s when she took refugee at the Instituto de Bellas Artes from the social political chaos her country was immersed. Her focus was drawing, painting, and sculpture.  She arrived to USA in 1981; she settled in Chicago in 1992 and made it her home. She completed courses in painting & ceramics at the University of Illinois at Chicago; at the Evanston Art Center she worked in printmaking under the guidance of Audrey Niffenegger, and in 1986 Beatriz enrolled at The School of the Art Institute where she obtained her masters degree in fine arts & art therapy.  She is a prolific professional artist holding her studio practice at the Chicago Fine Arts Building.
