I am an artist / printmaker from and currently living in Belfast, Northern Ireland. I have recently returned from four years living in Melbourne, Australia and this has influence my work quite a bit. I love to draw and to me sketchbooks are very precious items. I often find an artist's sketchbook is a lot more interesting and tells more about the artist than their final pieces do.   I've always been interested in birds. I wouldn't call myself a bird watcher, but a bird noticer. I notice birds everywhere and if I don't recognise a species it drives me mad! That is why my time in Australia was like going back to school. There were so many exotic and unfamiliar birds, I spent my whole time drawing them and learning what they all were. My drawing style is quite lose. Often, if I find my drawing is tightening up I change hands and draw with my left hand for a while. Most of my sketches are done quickly, trying to capture the essence of the object and i always draw from life, even if 'life' means a dead stuffed bird!
