The Brooklyn Sketchbook Project www.carolynsaxby-bsp.blogspot.com All photos and notes of my entire sketchbook are here CAROLYN SAXBY is a mixed media textile artist from St. Ives, Cornwall, UK Her work is varied and incorporates many materials and techniques, in particular painting and stitching, free motion machine embroidery, hand stitching incorporating found objects from nature and unusual materials such as tyvek, fibretex, plastic, latex, wax and textile materials which she manipulates and distresses by heating, melting and bonding Carolyn lives by the coast and much of her work is inspired by the seashore, seascapes and rock pools.  Shells, pebbles and seaweed are recurring themes and beach finds (shells, seaweed, feathers, string, plastic and all manner of flotsam and jetsam) make their way into her work Carolyn is also interested in and inspired by all aspects of nature, country walks, hedgerow finds, berries, hips, leaves, trees and flowers, the weather, the elements and global warming.  She enjoys working with seasonal themes connected to the British calendar.  Recent projects have included experiments with natural plant dyes and The Erosion Bundle Project, an experiment with Mother Nature where fabrics, papers and organic matter were left exposed to the elements for three months and the contents used in various stitched collages Carolyn has two blogs.  Both feature mixed media textile art and textured photography: Carolyn Saxby Mixed Media Textile Art www.carolynsaxby.blogspot.com Love Stitching Red www.love-stitching-red.blogspot.com Her work will be on sale from April 2011 Details will be announced on both blogs a little nearer the time January 2011

Have you posted this year's book yet Carolyn? Mine's on its way. Just been playing around on this site and I find it really clunky.,.. or maybe its just me being feeble! x

Thanks for the info Carolyn - inexpensive is definitely good and an uncomplicated point and shoot is also definitely good! There are so many cameras out there it's hard to know where to begin so I'll use this as a starting point.

Hi Christianne ... haven't been on the site for a while. I did have a portfolio on last year's sketchbook project but then it seemed to disappear while they were working on the site. I will be loading up new photos of my sketchbook for 2012 quite soon and will let you know. Thanks, Carolyn x
