Denise Sanabria

Denise Stewart-Sanabria was born in Massachusetts and received her BFA in Painting from the University of Massachusetts/Amherst. She has lived in Knoxville, Tennessee since 1986. She exhibits regularly in juried and invitational exhibits in galleries, museums, and alternative art spaces. She has received over 20 awards in a five year period from both curators and directors from the Huntsville Museum of Art, The Knoxville Museum off Art, the Clarksville Custom House Museum, and the National Portrait Gallery in Washington DC. Recent selected exhibits include the Tennessee Art Commission Gallery, Nashville's Cumberland Gallery's "Annual, Perennial", and Estel Gallery's "Line", and international juried exhibit of contemporary drawing. She was included in both the second Tennessee Biennial at the Clarksville Custom House Museum, and the 2008 Biennial:Contemporary Realism, at the Fort Wayne Museum of Art in Indiana.
