With a background in graphic design and web graphics, my every day life has been inundated with technology. As an artist, I felt the growing need to step away from the computer and create art by hand. Throughout my career, I have been designing with fonts, blocks of text, and images that were constrained by grids. My art became a place to break away from the strict rules and confining structure of my trade.  I allowed myself to indulge in creating loose, light-hearted, and playful images that emerged from my imagination and fond childhood memories. On January 1, 2010, I created a daily drawing challenge for myself. The goal was to draw every day and share each day with the world. As the days passed, a distinct style evolved and unfolded not unlike the new life I chose when I moved from Southern California to La Grande, East Oregon in July 2009. Using the acrylics on panel or canvas, I depict subjects that capture the nostalgia of my childhood reflecting youth, innocence and playfulness. As I reminisce on the past, I relive and experience the feelings of each memory, transforming them into an array of colorful shapes woven together by organic curves and lines conveying each mood with a unique energy.
