Heather Soodak

I am from the beautiful Sierra Nevada Mountains in Northern California and am currently working as a freelance illustrator and high school art teacher in Southern California. I got my B.A. at Laguna College of Art and Design and my teaching credential at Cal State University, Long Beach. I believe that you need to live your life following to your dreams and I am so happy to be doing that. I also plan to illustrate children's books and my goal is to make people giggle as they see my colorful, silly characters. The sketchbook project was a way to help keep me sketching every day wherever I was whether it was at the park or at the grocery store. When I draw things around me, I feel like I notice more about the world around me but it is most enjoyable to add a little imagination and creativity to it as well! Part of the magic of doing art for me is to keep a childlike imagination alive, and to encourage that in others as well.
