Denise Landis is an Arizona acrylic painter that sees the world through a "Pointillism Veil".  She looks for subjects to paint by their primary and complementary colors.  In her mind, "I can't see one without the other".  Her paintings are built on the principles of Classical Pointillism, but for each painting, she uses different sized dots, dabs, or strokes to vary her pieces into what she terms "Modified Pointillism". Originally, Denise started painting with "dots" via cans of spray paint.  However, she soon grew tired of leaning forward to paint canvases on the ground and the smelly fumes didn't help.  In early 2000, she reverted back to painting with a brush on a vertical canvas.  Now, she incorporates musical rhythms and repetitive beats to maintain a steady movement around the canvas. The Denise Landis art studio, known as "Landisworks", is located in a primitive desert community outside the Phoenix metro area.  Denise's works are primarily shown in galleries and art centers around the Southwest so the opportunity to display art works with so many other artists in Atlanta motivated her involvement with this exciting project.

Thank you for the kind words new friend! I actually have not been in AZ for very long & have only gotten a couple paintings at one place in Tempe. It's this hip little retail store that doubles as a gallery called Sunset Clothing. I am a little lost as to how to go about getting my art out "there". Thus far I just done group shows w/ school & commissioned work. But any suggestions regarding galleries that my particular style of art would fit well with would be welcomed! have a good one!

Intriguing color play.  I hope to get to Arizona some day to be inspired by the colors of the desert.   Thanks for connecting :-)

Thanks for your Comment Denise. I have been busy with my artist blog and creating an artist website... it is a little more work than I had anticipated! I love blogging though it allows me time in my week to reflect on what has been happening for me in my studio. I really enjoy your work as well... wonderful color and mood. Take care.

I LOVE your pointillism!!! The colors you use make my eyes swoon! That was one of the first painting techiques I was exposed to when I was younger and I always enjoy seeing it.
