I was born and raised in Queens, NY. My creative background consists of
a combination of fine arts, painting, drawing and printmaking and
performing arts, specifically different types of dance.
My background in movement has a great influence on my imagery/artwork. I
prefer to focus on, light, line, movement and shape, how light reveals
objects and meaning through shadow. The figure is my favorite subject
as it is endless in its variation. I'm interested in life, including
nature, music, relationships (human and objects) , identity, community,
freedom and justice. In the future I would like to incorporate my
artwork into film, multimedia and community or public works. I presently hold a Master's Degree from Teachers College Columbia
University in Art and Art Education. I also possess a Bachelor of Fine
Arts Degree in painting and drawing from Mason Gross School of the Arts
at Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ. I have continued my education
in the arts by taking courses at the Pratt Institute, Parsons School of
Design, New York University as well as The Haystack Mountain School of
Crafts in Deer Isle, Maine. I have taught elementary and high school
art in Westchester, Queens and Brooklyn, NY. Most recently I have been
an instructor in the Fine Arts Department at Kean University as well as
William Paterson University, a Program Manager at Free Arts NYC and
presently an administrator and artist working with the NYCTS. Through
the arts (visual and performing) we work with at risk and low income
communities to help promote bicycle and pedestrian safety. Our programs
take place in New York city public schools as well as social service
and community centers. At the moment I live in Brooklyn, NY.
