Stacy,

Your work is so inspiring to me.  I love it!  I took almost three years off from painting,  just got burned out.  This site has helped me to creating again.  It was like taking one big leap of faith !  Please keep painting, don't deny the beauty of your work to the world.

I really love all your work!! Mandolin is right, I would love to do a mosaic of one of your birds.  Do you have prints?  They are really awesome! Kathy

Hi Stacy, I love your bird profile painting.  I have had breaks in my art practice as well, and am just getting started again with my painting.  The projects on this site have helped get me going again.  That must be difficult being the only art teacher!!

Stacy,

I am sorry to hear of your frustrations. Your work is unique and amazing! I have local recognition but beyond that, no one really knows who I am. I have a great gallery that shows and sells my work. The owner really works hard to earn her cut. I guess the best part (for me) of being an artist is creating the art. The rest is just a bonus.

I really relate to the last paragraph of your bio. Having kids sent my creativity into a tailspin. My kids are 13 and 15 right now and it is still hard to find time to create art. The turning point for me was when my husband built me an art studio out in our back yard. I am still right here if my family needs me but I am far enough removed that I can focus.

Hang in there! you are an artist and always will be but the season for raising a child is short. Keep painting, keep loving and all the pieces will fall into place.

These are all beautiful! Your work is very mosaic-like, so I think you would quickly be hooked! :)

You used so many rich colors... every piece here is just striking! You're lucky that you have been able to carve out more time for yourself so you can create. I'm a mom of a 3 & 6 year old, so I fully understand your struggles!

I am an artist from the small town of Monroe, La.  I have a Bachlors and a Masters  degree in Fine art.  I teach at our local Community College.  It is a new Community College, only about 6 years old now. I created and taught the first art course there; and I curently make up the entire art department seeing that I am the only fine arts instructor they have in employement.  It has been quiet an honor and a chalenge to try to build a program from scratch.

I am also a mother of a five year old son.  It has been very hard to find time to work, be a good mother and wife, and be an artist.  My time spent being an artist sadly gets the scraps, whatever amount of time that is left over.  But it is getting better.  More and more I have been able to set some time aside to work on art.  Most of the time I have to scratch around, get up early, or stay up late in order to have that time.

Art has been my obsession, my passion, and my life for so long.  It has been so frustraiting having to put all of that on hold.  After having my son, I went a period of almost two years without creating almost anything.  At that point I had no direction.  I told myself that I had to begin something, anything.  I chose the subject of birds, and decided I would stick to this subject until I ran out of ideas and then I would try to push myself further and see where that took me.  It has atleast got me working again.  That is my goal for now, make time and create work.
