The Sketchbook Project Volume 3

Like a concert tour, but with sketchbooks.

We send you the sketchbook, you make the art. Then Art House is taking all the sketchbooks on a 6 city tour to galleries and museums across the U.S. The goal of the exhibition is to encourage anyone to create artwork and build a collective of sketchbooks made by artists from all over the world.

Related things

Art House is all about community. You don't have to be a professional artist to participate in the exhibition. This project is about being creative and inspiring yourself and others. We want to bring artists together and give everyone a chance to show in museums and galleries around the country! Sign up and we'll send you a Moleskine sketchbook. The theme of the show is "everyone we know". You have until February 15th, 2009 to send your sketchbook back to us. We'll take your sketchbook, along with every else's, on tour with us to the dates below.

Theme

"everyone we know"

The theme of the project is "everyone we know". This is just a guideline. Interpret it however you want.

How it works

Entry fee is $18 for a United States shipping address and $21 if it is shipped over seas. The entry fee covers the sketchbook, shipping the sketchbook to you, and inclusion into each exhibition on the tour. Please note that we do not jury entries. We believe art should be accessible to the masses and we therefor included every entry submitted.

Rules and info

If you want your book returned to you, you MUST include a self addressed STAMPED envelope when you send back your sketch book.

The sketch book MUST be the same sized when closed (3.5 by 5.5 in). When opened, they can be as big or as small as you want, but they must fold back into the same original size.

Sketchbooks will be for sale during the exhibitions. When pricing your sketchbook, please take note that Art House takes 40% of the final price. If sold, you will receive a check approximately one month after the last stop on the tour.

The theme is "everyone we know". There are no restrictions or censorship on content.

When is the deadline to send my work in?
Your work must be POSTMARKED by February 15th, 2009. This means it needs to be in the mail by then, not in our hands yet.

Where should I send my finished project to?

Your work is your work and you retain the rights to it. If your book is sold in the show, Art House will send you a check at the end of the show for 60% of the amount sold for. As stated above, we will return your sketchbook to you if not sold (or not for sale) if you include a self-addressed-stamped-envelope when you send the sketchbook to us.
